FAQ
1. What kinds of services are covered by the Bulgarian National Health Insurance Fund?
The Bulgarian National Health Insurance Fund covers an examination and a couple of manipulations – either two restorations or two extractions. The patient is charged a minimum fee; the rest is covered by the Health Insurance Fund.
2. Is it true that the dental tartar removal harms the tooth enamel?
Definitely not. There are two general methods used for removing dental tartar: the first one consists in the manual removal of the tartar while using special instruments (this method is not applicable in our clinic), and the second one is performed with the help of ultrasound equipment. Some tests lead to the conclusion that the ultrasound removal technique causes micro-scratches to the the dental cement but not to the enamel. The information available in different literature sources is controversial; however, the benefit of the removal of the dental tartar exceeds by far the limitations of the procedure.
3. Why do I have bad breath?
Bad breath may be caused by certain problems emerged within one’s organism. It is mostly due to problems related to digestion malfunction; yet often are the cases in which bad breath is a result of the accumulation of dental tartar. Thus, usually several days after its removal the bad breath vanishes.
4. When I brush my teeth my gums bleed. Why is that so and is there any solution to the problem?
The gum bleeding is the most important symptom of gums inflammation (gingivitis). It is due to the accumulation of dental plaque and tartar and to the irregular or incorrect brushing of one’s teeth. The solution to the problem is very individual, but typically it all comes down to some mundane procedures and to increasing one’s oral hygiene.
